The Axis Communications AXIS 240Q Blade Video Server effectively bridges the gap between analog and digital technology. The server accepts four analog fixed or dome cameras and turns them into virtual network cameras complete with remote Internet viewing and recording, PTZ control and alarm I/O ports. This Blade is designed to slide inside an AXIS Video Rack Server, either the 3-port or the 12-port version, with the Rack providing both power and serial camera control. Both rack models use a single Ethernet port to connect to a network and allow easy swapping between different types of Blades. A Blade is a very useful tool for long established security facilities looking to take full advantage of the latest in network technology without having to replace their existing high resolution and expensive analog equipment.
