The SUB-15 is a compact direct-radiating 15” subwoofer that delivers performance found in products twice the size and price! Installers will immediately see the benefit of a high-power subwoofer (500 watts program/1000 watts peak) in a package the size of a beer cooler! The SUB-15 fits anywhere: Beneath a table or hidden behind a lounge covered with red Naugahyde. Unlike many competitors, Cerwin-Vega designs and manufactures its own woofers and cabinets at its home facility in California. A rugged diecast woofer frame provides rigidity and precision for tighter tolerances and higher overall efficiency. The oversize magnet structure, combined with a proprietary metal alloy voice coil former, maximizes magnetic and electrical efficiency. A 1/2" thick, 8 lb. steel top plate and a 3” voice coil gives reliable operation at high power levels. Cerwin-Vega’s innovative venting system makes the woofer see an acoustic load larger than a single oversize port, resulting in a 3 to 6 dB increase in bass response! Multiple vents on the bottom of the cabinet work with adjacent walls as well as the floor, permitting maximum bass loading regardless of where the cabinet is placed — in a corner, near a wall, or even in the middle of the floor! This remarkable capability — high performance in any location — combined with its convenient size makes the SUB-15 a perfect solution for applications with limited space. The high quality plywood cabinet is covered with solid grey carpet and features a full steel grille, recessed pocket handles, and rubber feet. A 1 3/8" (35 mm) socket mount located in the top of the cabinet permits the use of a pole for quick and easy positioning of a Cerwin-Vega full-range or mid-high cabinet above the subwoofer. Connecting through the SUB-15’s internal 150 Hz high-pass crossover substantially improves the effective power handling of the pole-mounted mid-high cabinet while minimizing the amplifier load. The SUB-15’s selectable low-pass filter helps acoustically conceal the subwoofer by removing vocals from a full-range amplifier feed; the internal high-pass and low-pass filters may be individually bypassed for biamp operation with an electronic crossover. A combination of Neutrik SpeakonTM 4-pin and 1/4" phone plug connectors provide hook-up flexibility. Words and specifications tell only part of the story.
