39R8729 has a PCI bracket that allows it to be installed in a standard PCI slot in the xSeries 206m and 206 machines, and ships with v8.15 (or later) firmware. 39R8729 replaces 13N2227. Without the PCI bracket, the cards are interchangable, but a ServeRAID-8i controller installed in the xSeries 206m and 306m must have v8.15 firmware or later in order to function. You cannot upgrade the firmware of the card to v8.15 while it is installed in an xSeries 206m or 306m if it has older firmware - you must upgrade the firmware in another system.
